Description

Ellipsis is establishing itself as a market leader in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) for B2B technology companies. While the rise of AI search has challenged much of the SEO industry, our early investment in AI search products since 2021 has positioned us to thrive. We possess a proprietary tracking product, a vast dataset of millions of AI answers, and a full-service execution capability that spans strategy, writing, design, and performance reporting.

As a new member of our in-house Writing team, your primary focus will be on crafting outstanding, strategically sound content for our clients. This content will be informed by our latest AI search research. We are looking for a writer who can think strategically, learn quickly, and confidently write across a wide range of subjects, typically within the SaaS and B2B tech sectors.

Your core responsibility is content creation, from interpreting a brief to producing a final piece using a blend of your own skills and our advanced, custom AI tools. You will produce a varied portfolio of work for your clients, including landing pages, informational articles, comparison pieces, and listicles.

Quality is paramount. Every piece must build reader trust, capture the client's brand voice, and be optimized for performance in both traditional and AI-powered search. You don't need to be a GEO expert on day one, but a strong interest in how AI search functions and the ability to learn rapidly is essential, as this knowledge is foundational to our work.

While we use AI extensively to handle groundwork and increase output, we are fiercely anti-"slop." Your expertise lies in using our tools to build upon AI-generated drafts, applying your judgment and creativity to produce work that far exceeds what any tool could create alone. You will also be expected to provide feedback on our processes to help us continuously improve.

Although you won't manage client relationships directly, excellent communication is vital. You will work closely with clients, as well as our Content, Strategy, and Design teams, to deeply understand your clients' products, audiences, and goals. You will gather information through onboarding calls and asynchronous communication.

Our clients are predominantly B2B technology startups and scale-ups, with a growing number of B2C clients. This means you must be adept at switching contexts and quickly mastering new, often complex, topics.

As a 100% remote team with most members based in Europe, we use Basecamp and Google Meet to collaborate. Regular attendance at meetings between 10 am and 3 pm GMT is expected.

Benefits:

1. Salary of £31-33k/year, dependent on experience, with a pension benchmarked to UK rates.
2. 28 days of paid holiday, with an additional day added for each year of tenure (up to a maximum of 5 extra days).
3. A 4-day work week, offered once a month.
4. Genuinely flexible working hours and arrangements.
5. Annual team retreats (approx. 1 per year) in locations like Istanbul, Edinburgh, and Madrid.
6. Dedicated time and budget for professional learning and development.
7. Enhanced maternity/paternity leave and sick pay.

Responsibilities:

1. Produce high-quality, original content (landing pages, articles, comparisons, listicles) for a portfolio of B2B and SaaS clients.
2. Use a combination of your own writing skills and custom AI tooling to efficiently turn briefs into compelling, publication-ready pieces.
3. Ensure all content is fact-checked, builds reader trust, captures the client's brand voice, and is optimized for performance in both traditional and AI search.
4. Quickly get up to speed on unfamiliar technical topics and turn complex information into user-friendly content.
5. Collaborate effectively with clients and internal teams (Content, Strategy, Design) to understand project goals, gather information, and ensure alignment.

Requirements:

1. A minimum of 2-4 years of professional writing and editing experience.
2. An excellent command of grammar and a disciplined approach to fact-checking all statistics, prices, and claims against primary sources.
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, remote team.
4. Strong critical thinking skills to question briefs, weigh sources, and make sound editorial judgments.
5. Proven organisational skills and an obsessive commitment to meeting deadlines.
6. Fantastic written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote work.
7. Receptiveness to feedback, a solution-oriented mindset, and a focus on continuous improvement over being "right."
8. A self-motivated, proactive work ethic and the ability to see projects through to completion.

Required skills

· Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills
· Strong critical thinking and editorial judgment
· Proven ability to quickly learn and write about complex B2B/SaaS topics
· Confidence in using and building upon AI writing tools
· Exceptional organisational skills and deadline management
· Clear, frequent, and professional written communication
· Fact-checking discipline
· Adaptability and ability to context-switch between clients and projects
· Collaborative and open to feedback

How To Apply

Apply through Workable using the link on the company's job posting. Your application must include a CV and a cover letter. The cover letter is your opportunity to stand out—research the role, our company, and tell us what you can do for us.

We want to see how you think. While we use AI extensively in our daily work, we ask that your application be written in your own words. We will review all applications after the 30th September deadline.

The selection process involves at least three video interviews and a paid freelance project to assess your fit.

Why Apply

· Be at the Forefront: This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an emerging field (GEO) with a company that is genuinely leading the market. You'll be working with proprietary data and tools that give you an edge in understanding the future of search.
· Interesting Work with High-Profile Clients: You'll work on a wide variety of content for major B2B tech companies, preventing the work from becoming repetitive or stale.
· High-Value Autonomy and Creativity: The role encourages you to use your judgment to drive quality, making it more than just a "content mill" job. You will have the space to be creative and strategic, not just execute orders.
· Work-Life Balance and Perks: The benefits package is strong, particularly the genuine flexibility, the once-a-month 4-day week, and the yearly team retreats (which are excellent for team bonding and travel).
· Strong Company Culture: The emphasis on collaboration, continuous improvement, and being anti-"slop" suggests a culture that values quality, learning, and mutual support.

Before You Apply

· Read Their Wiki: The advert explicitly states that much of their company Wiki is externally accessible. Reading it will give you a significant advantage by demonstrating genuine interest and initiative. It’s the best way to understand their approach to AI and GEO.
· Write a Personal, Non-AI Cover Letter: This is non-negotiable. With a company so focused on the human element of using AI, using AI for your application will likely disqualify you. Use the cover letter to showcase your critical thinking and your understanding of the role, not just your technical skills.
· Understand the Role's Reality: This is a high-volume, high-quality role that heavily incorporates AI. If you are a "pure" writer who is uncomfortable with or opposed to using AI in your process, this is likely not the job for you. If you see AI as a powerful tool to leverage, you will thrive.
· Be Prepared for Testing: The application process includes a paid project, so be ready to demonstrate your skills in a practical setting.
· Check Your Time Zone: With most of the team in Europe, you must be reliably available for meetings within the 10 am - 3 pm GMT window.
